NYU Expansion at 181 Mercer Street

Infinite Consulting Corp. (Infinite) provided Site Safety Management services for the construction of NYU‘s campus expansion at 181 Mercer Street in Greenwich Village. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and KieranTimberlake, the 735,000-square-foot complex consists of three towers rising from a full-block podium between Houston, Mercer, and Bleecker Streets and I.M. Pei’s University Village complex.

Designed to optimize interactions between diverse student groups and academic disciplines, 181 Mercer includes classrooms, informal study spaces, performing arts theaters, rehearsal and practice rooms, varsity sports arenas, a recreational sports gymnasium, and a café, as well as faculty and first-year student housing. Each of these spaces will be organized into unique “neighborhoods,” all of which will be connected to an open and expansive commons that provides collaborative study, meeting, and gathering places. The project, which targets LEED gold certification, is designed in support of the NYU Climate Action Plan and will be connected to NYU’s existing Co-Generation (CoGen) facility.
