Infinite Consulting Corp. (Infinite) provided Cost Estimating and Scheduling services for the system-wide escalator replacement throughout New York City. Services were provided for Master Plan Scope, Design-Build RFP Documents, and Bid Support phases. Infinite staff worked closely with the Prime and Owner to review, clarify, refine, and finalize all work leading to the recommended plan, developing alternatives, and detailed analyses if required.
The scope of this project included the investigation of existing escalators, the development of a master plan report with replacement options, and then the preparation of final design-build documents for the Design-Build Bid. The scope covered, at times, up to 16 different stations with up to 45 escalators. The scope further covered structural repairs/replacements, architectural improvements, plumbing, and mechanical upgrades, installation of new fire suppression systems, and complete electrical upgrades, all of which were associated with the installation of new escalators. These escalators were both internal and external drives and ranged in rise from 10 feet to 40 feet.
